We put logs around a flower preserve on the hill, which kept out many humans, but the gophers didn't care at all. Morning on the 30th was the warmest yet, still with plenty of mosquitos. |
This guy was plying his trade right outside my tent door. Later in the week a wandering dog dug him out and killed him. Dogs were a problem, as usual. At different times I saw several dogs playing in the stream, stirring up the silt. I have dogs but don't take them to gatherings because it would be really hard to keep up with them, and to control them around so many dogs that are strangers and not on a leash. |
This day I stayed around the immediate neighborhood, letting some blisters heal and planning for a "cheap shelter" workshop to be on the 3rd. Later in the day I wandered down for supper circle, and then a search for drinking water. Good water was a problem around this time, several of the filters had clogged and quit working. While wandering I took a few pix. |
Robbie makes these cool stellar figures from bamboo skewers. This one was flexible and would fold up. |
Interesting ways of avoiding backpacks were seen all over the place. |
I was surprised to see this tent that was framed just like a design I was working on a couple of weeks before the gathering. The geometric figure is an icosicosidodecahedron, if you're interested. |
Here's a budget way of making a tipi. I don't think they had a liner, so a fire inside probably wasn't too pleasant. |
One brother's vision. A lot of detail is lost in this picture. |
Stick city grew over the next few days. |
Sunset, and early to bed. The decision has been made to bring in the geodesic dome for the workshop, and it'll take several trips tomorrow. |
